Moran Center unveils new office space - Evanston Roundtable

Sept. 14 brought a crowd of friends and supporters to the new office of the Moran Center for Youth Advocacy, 1900A Dempster St. The event featured kudos and thanks to the numerous local vendors who donated much of the labor and materials to make the office seem welcoming.

Legal aid attorneys anticipate eviction avalanche - Daily Northwestern

But when the courts reopen – which could be as soon as June 1 – McClung, her colleagues, tenants’ rights advocates and city officials anticipate a massive glut of eviction orders filed by landlords against tenants in Evanston and Cook County. The orders threaten to overwhelm legal aid attorneys and put an unknown number of tenants out of their homes.

Evanston Builds Strong Community, One Tool at a Time - United Way

[The] model is simple. Neighbors can donate items to the library and borrow tools when they need them. Most recently, they purchased a snowblower for neighbors to clear driveways and sidewalks during these brutal Chicago winters. The Block Club has also hosted a bike repair workshop led by a volunteer from Evanston Bike Club.

Sheila Merry to leave ‘Cradle to Career’ - Evanston Now

Merry joined EC2C as its founding executive director in early 2015. Since then, EC2C has grown to include 40 plus partner organizations and, as a United Way Neighborhood Network, has brought well over a $1 million into Evanston, much of which has been passed on to EC2C partner organizations.
